Gallery FAQs I'm a photographer, can I shoot your show?. While any member of the audience can bring a camera, we have our own photographers who we have worked with over the years and they are generally given preference as the space for photographers is limited. Photographers shooting for articles, or who can publicise the event should contact us beforehand, you are most welcome. We have some space for alternative/goth photographers who may want to come along for the experience.
Is this a goth fashion show? Circa Nocturna is an Alternative fashion show, it includes fashion from subcultures, such as the goth community, as well as other alternative fashion.
What's the relationship between Circa Nocturna:Melbourne Alternative Fashion Show and Nocturnal Instincts? Nocturnal Instincts was the show from which Circa Nocturna originated. Some of the team worked on the original Nocturnal Instincts. Nocturnal Instincts was more club orientated, and probably more goth orientated than CN:MAFS is, apart from that they are quite similiar in concept.
How is it financed? The chief organisers finance it from their own pocket, with some minor help from sponsors and admission charges from the designers.
Do you use professional models? Mostly we use alternative club people, or people from subcultures...often the people that would buy this sort of fashion parade it on the catwalk for us. A minority of our models are professionals
Can I buy clothes at your show? Yes, some of the designers has merchandise available in the merch area.
I want to help! We need volunteers, particularly models and people who can help set up and pull down. We generally can't afford to pay though!
I design clothes, how do I get involved? Please go to the designer application page, there is a lot of documentation there.
What is Alternative Fashion? Alternative fashion is fashion that stands away from the mainstream, fashion that is different. It may be the fashion of a subculture, or just plain wierd. It is fashion that does not conform to the mundane. It is fashion from the fringe, and is often more artistic, than practical.
